Lismore Gaelic Tournament
Our footballers from P5, 6 and 7 did our school proud at the annual Lismore College Gaelic Football Blitz on Friday 8th November.
On a grey but calm day, Derrymore impressed right from the start, with a 15 points to 2 win over St Patrick’s, Aghagallon, followed by a 22 points to no score win against St Brendan’s B. The final group stage game ended with another convincing 12 points to 5 win against St Anthony’s B, leaving us top of our group and going into the draw for the cup!
Unfortunately, we couldn’t make it past the quarter-final as a well organised St Francis team managed to pack their defence and hold on to their slenderest of leads, running out eventual winners in a gripping match on a 9 points to 10 score line. St Francis’s would march on to the final, only losing out to a strong finish by Tannaghmore, who managed to pip them by 2 points.
Thanks to Lismore for a great day out, and well done to all our players who did extremely well; myself and Kieran couldn’t have been prouder! Thanks also to the parents who managed to make it along and give us their support!
